KAWA AUTO App - iOS

OTA Firmware Update Instructions

1. Preparation Before the Upgrade

  • Make sure the dash camera is powered on and connected to a stable power supply.
  • Make sure the KAWA AUTO app is installed on your phone. Using the latest version is recommended.
  • During the upgrade, do not lock the screen, exit the app, clear background apps, or switch Wi-Fi networks.
  • Connect to the dash camera's Wi-Fi first. It is normal for the phone to temporarily lose internet access after connecting.

2. OTA Upgrade Procedure

Overall process: Connect to the device Wi-Fi → Authorize the connection → Confirm the update → Download the firmware → Confirm the transfer → Transfer to the device → Wait for the restart to complete.

01. Connect to the Device Wi-Fi

Open the phone’s Wi-Fi settings and select the dash camera hotspot, for example, “KAWA_D9_xxxx.” If a no-internet warning appears after connecting, this is normal for a direct device connection.

02. Open the App and Authorize

Open the KAWA AUTO app and wait for it to detect the device. When connecting for the first time, follow the prompts to grant authorization and wait for the connection countdown to finish.

03. Confirm the Firmware Update

When the app detects new firmware, an update prompt will appear. Check the version information, then tap “OK,” “Confirm,” or “Upgrade Now.”

04. Download the Firmware Package

On the “Downloading firmware” page, wait for the upgrade package to finish downloading. Do not exit the app or switch networks during this stage.

05. Confirm Firmware Transfer

After the download is complete, the app will indicate that the upgrade package is ready. After confirming that the device will pause recording, tap “OK” to begin the transfer.

06. Transfer to the Dash Camera

During the “Pushing” stage, the phone transfers the firmware to the dash camera. Keep the phone close to the device, do not disconnect power, and do not disconnect Wi-Fi.

07. Wait for the Restart to Complete

After the transfer is complete, the device will restart and install the upgrade. When the success message appears, wait for the device to power on again, then reconnect it to the app and verify the version.

3. Confirming Upgrade Completion

  • After the device has restarted, reconnect it to the KAWA AUTO app.
  • Open Device Settings or the About page and verify that the firmware version has been updated.
  • The upgrade is complete when live view, recording, and settings work normally and the app no longer prompts you about a new version.

4. Important Notes

  • Never disconnect power from the dash camera during the upgrade, as this may cause the upgrade to fail or prevent the device from starting.
  • During the download and transfer stages, do not exit the app, lock the screen, switch Wi-Fi networks, or clear background apps.
  • Recording will pause while the firmware is being transferred. Wait until the upgrade is complete before resuming normal use.
  • If the upgrade fails, reconnect to the device Wi-Fi, reopen the app, and try again.
